When Will It End? The Wisdom of Cycles in Astrology

In this episode we talk with Ray Merriman from mmacycles.com about the importance of analyzing events in the context of cycles rather than fleeting planetary events. We discuss the Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions of 2020 and the insight that gives us into the timing of the pandemic, the importance of Pluto in 2020, and the question we all want the answer to: “when will it end?”

When Can We Expect Good Data? Mercury and COVID-19

In this episode, Tony Howard looks at Mercury’s role in the unfolding pandemic. Most astrologers have been focusing – rightly – on the big planetary players, especially the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn that was exact in January 2020.

But all of the planets at any moment in time are worth looking at. Mercury’s movement correlates with key details about how this story has been unfolding, especially in regards to Mercury-ruled dynamics like the spread of information, scientific testing and research, and messaging from governments, the press and through social media.

Tune in to find out why things have been so confusing and when we might see some clarity.

Kelly Surtees joins Tony Howard to talk about some of the complex planetary patterns correlating with the COVID-19 crisis. Fear tends to rise in the collective during Saturn-Pluto cycles, like the one we’re in now with the Saturn- Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, which is at play throughout 2020. PALLAS, CORONAVIRUS, & IMMUNE SYSTEM

Blog Post from Demetra George

In 1986, asteroid pioneer Eleanor Bach proposed that Pallas (a surname of Athena) is connected to the immune system which protects the body against invasion as well as susceptibility to disease. (Graphic Ephemeris). All this year, the asteroid Pallas is traveling in tandem, right on the heels, of the asteroid Wuhan through the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius which are hosting the historic Pluto/Saturn/Jupiter conjunctions. Last month, I shared Brenda Wilson’s article on Wuhan, and this is a follow up looking more closely at Pallas. At the end are general suggestions about keeping your immune system strong according to the zodiacal sign of Pallas in your chart.

Grey-eyed Pallas Athena, born from the head of Zeus as an emanation of his mind, was honored as the Goddess of Wisdom and War. Early images portray her full clad in armor, holding a spear and shield, with an image of the serpent-haired Gorgon Medusa emblazoned upon her breastplate. Other depictions show her serpent child coiled at her feet.

Just How Serious is This Saturn-Pluto Transit?

Blog Post from Tony Howard

Last year I re-read the Saturn-Pluto chapter in Cosmos and Psyche in preparation for the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn in January 2020. It’s a pretty heavy piece of writing and research, and I thought, “this has to be unnecessarily bleak – surely there’s a positive side to this.” Turns out the weight of the info matches the weight of this transit.

Here are just a few highlights of what Tarnas found correlates with Saturn-Pluto times like those we’re in now: “Challenging historical periods marked by a pervasive quality of intense contraction…grim awakenings and sudden breakdowns, whether political, economic or psychological…moral darkness…perceiving and constellating danger, subversive threat, and malefic shadow elements in a rigidly polarized world view…global economic and political collapse and fascist empowerment…mass suffering, disease, death and fear…the violent unpredictability of life…intensified collective awareness of dire threats to the human species…” And that’s just for starters.

Mars, Saturn and Covid-19

Blog Post from Kelly Surtees

I’m not a mundane astrologer and I don’t specialize in global astrology trends, but I do have some ideas about how the current planetary trends will describe the feelings and changes we’re all dealing with.

The restrictions regarding daily life, travel, and social interactions are likely to peak around the time Mars will conjunct Saturn, at 0 Aquarius on March 31.

Think about that date as maximum limitation, or peak restriction. The six weeks both before and after that date are like the lead in and fade out periods to that conjunction. In the lead up, as the planetary conjunction gets stronger, there’s an increase in worry and restriction, with lots of fear about what might – or might not – happen. In the fade out period, things being to subside, gradually and slowly but in a noticeable way.

Locked in, Closed off, and Still Not Separate

Blog Post with Lynn Bell

On Sunday, when the tally of the coronavirus leapt to hundreds in Italy, food flew off the shelves in Milan. The city is ghostlike. People are pulling back into the smallest number of contacts and closing off from the outside world.

The last time a cluster of outer planets formed in Capricorn, the Berlin Wall came down. In late 1989, Saturn joined Uranus and Neptune, planets that can shatter structures or dissolve them. The Cold War was swept away. Wave after wave of connection came in the years that followed, riding the innovation of the web, born with the exact Uranus-Neptune conjunction 1992-1995. The world has become more connected. Last year more than 1.4 billion people travelled through the world’s airports.

Saturn Pluto and Current Events 2020

Blog Post with Lynn Bell

Quarantine comes from forty, the forty days that were initially imposed to contain the plague. Forty is also the mystical one-ninth of a circle, and the number of days that Venus is retrograde. While current quarantines have been set at fourteen days, this notion of an imposed sealing off, reminds us of the alchemical process of containment. A number of people have asked me about the archetypal meaning of the coronavirus. We are being asked to go inward, to contain something, to step back from our connections with others temporarily. Saturn rules boundaries, and particularly the boundary between inner and outer worlds. Capricorn is, after all, the 12th sign from Aquarius, and so symbolizes the group’s confinement.

The Astrology of Social Distancing 2020

Blog post by Dru Ish

Saturn is digging in its heels at the final degree of Capricorn. The last degree of any sign in the Zodiac is never easy terrain; the Anaretic, or Critical 29th degree, holds immense potency, intensification and stress. As Saturn goes through this chrysalis, the Capricorn dialogue of the recent past centring commerce, capitalism, “the rich” now shifts toward the Aquarian narrative of life itself; togetherness, solidarity, community, being connected in isolation.

ASTEROID WUHAN

Blog Post with Demetra George

The asteroid Wuhan (discovered in 1980 at the Purple Mountain Observatory) entered into Capricorn in early January shortly before the Saturn Pluto conjunction. The average rate of speed for asteroids is about 1 degree every four days. Since then, it has been progressively passing over the South Node, Jupiter, Mars, Pluto and Saturn. It enters Aquarius mid-April, but by the end of May turns retrograde around 4 Aquarius and passes back over Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter. It turns direct at the end of August, once again contacting Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn until mid-November when it enters Aquarius for about the next four months. There it will prepare the way for the historic Jupiter Saturn conjunction near Winter Solstice.

Our Current Crisis

Blog post with Mark Jones

At the extremely popular United Astrology Conference of 2018 in Chicago I presented a talk on the planetary nodes. Actually, perhaps overcrowded might be a more accurate description: despite having a double room for the talk, it was full to the point where people sat cross-legged and so close to me that they couldn’t even see the powerpoint! At *slide 44 I presented information on 5 of the major world conflicts of modern history: the American War of Independence, the US Civil War, the Taiping Revolution, and the first and second World Wars. I detailed how they began with an outer planet conjunction to, or square to, the south node of Saturn (around 22°-23° Capricorn) and ended when that contact moved on to aspect the south node of Neptune (around 8°-10° Aquarius). In that hot and crowded space, with some angry people turned away prior to the talk, there was a visible gasp at the information I had provided.
