Mathematikos is the ancient Greek word that was used to refer to an astrologer because they were always doing numbers in order to erect a chart. This is the first and most fundamental act of the astrological tradition.
Tap into this esteemed lineage and preserve it by learning the almost lost art of calculating and drawing up an astrological chart by hand. The process becomes a meditation in its own right and helps you to embody the chart before even encountering the client.
Sliding into a beginner’s state of mind, Demetra presents her signature style clear, orderly, detailed and thorough step-by-step teaching. Using only an Ephemeris, Table of Houses, and basic arithmetic, master how to determine the exact degrees for planets’ longitude and declination, and the MC, Ascendant, and intermediate house cusps. Then draw up the chart in the Placidus, Whole Sign, Equal, and Porphyry systems.
The basic astronomy of the great circles is interspersed into each lesson in order to visualize and better understand what the degrees of planets and sensitive points actually represent in the sky and how they change with small increments of time. A Bonus Class illustrates how to use Interpolation Tables and calculate the both the day and night Lot/Part of Fortune.
Fully worked out calculations for each step of the process are provided for the class example, additional practice charts, a homework chart, and a template for instructional worksheets. Online links are given for the data and reference materials, as well as online self-checks for degree/decimal conversions.
This class will prepare you for taking the calculation portions of the the AFA Professional Exam and NCGR Level 1 Certification Exam.
