getting to bend

By Plane
It is highly recommended to fly into Redmond airport (airport code: RDM) and take an Uber or Lyft from the airport into Bend (about 20-25 minute drive).  Getting transportation from Portland is possible but a hassle.  Rental cars are available at the Portland and Redmond airports should you want to drive yourself. 

By Bus
*Bus trips to and from Portland and Bend are usually 3-4 hours depending on your destination. Keep in mind ski season and winter weather may delay the route.

The Breeze bus services between Portland and Bend with stops in between.  Round trip tickets from Portland to Bend will run around $100. 
The Northwest Navigator is a luxury transportation provider and would be a great option for a group of people wanting to share a ride together.  Once you know your travel details, you can contact them to arrange a courier. 
Shuttle Oregon is a popular shuttle service with great reviews, servicing Portland to Bend.

Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory
This is a must-see if you are in town!  The Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory offers night sky viewing of planets and constellations with several massive telescopes.  Night sky viewing is available Tuesday-Sunday in Summer months, Wednesdays and Saturdays between Labor Day and mid-June.  Dress warm!

Worthy Brewing
The Worthy Brewing “Hopservatory” is located about 10-15 minutes east of Bend and is simultaneously a brewery and observatory.  With its 16-foot tower you can peer through the telescope on site and get a good view of the night sky.

Additional exploratory options in and around Bend include the lava tube caves at the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, the 97-foot-high Tumelo Waterfall, and sunsets and sunrise views at Pilot Butte State Park. If you’re looking for something luxurious and relaxing , Easy Float offers float tank therapy.  In addition, the Deschutes River that flows through town draws tubing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding- all available to coordinate and arrange while you are visiting.  We hope you enjoy your time here!
