Throughout the course Demetra will guide you in integrating asteroids with ancient and modern myth making, with a Grecian tour of history, archaeology, literature and art.
The story of Ariadne and Phaedra, the last of the Minoan princess-priestesses, is told within the context of Theseus slaying the Minotaur in the Labyrinth. This classical myth recalls the folk memories of when Mycenaean Greeks became the rulers of Minoan Crete. On an inner level it speaks to archetypal themes surrounding relationship angst, abandonment, and redemption when entering into the labyrinthine passages to the heart of one’s emotional core.
Antiope, the Amazon Queen, and Medea, the preeminent mistress of magical power, play critical roles in this saga. So do other deities including Europa, Minos, Dionysos, Zeus, Poseidon, and Athena. Each of these can be explored in their chart through the asteroids named for them.
Like recent historical novels that are offering a feminist revisioning of ancient mythic women, we will participate in the time-honored tradition of creative myth making and as we weave together empowering transformative interpretations of these time-honored story lines.
Participants can discover which asteroids named after characters in the story are prominent in their own chart. Learn the times when these asteroids have been activated by outer planet transits. This personalization of myth in psyche can illuminate the archetypal dramas constellated in our individual lives.
