Astrology and the Individuation Process

Drawing on the insights of Sigmund Freud, C.G. Jung, James Hillman, and others, this talk will address the role of astrology as a guide to the complex process of development that Jung called individuation. Viewing individuation from the perspective of the planetary principles in astrology can enable us to better understand its different dimensions—such as the “religious function” of the psyche and the mythic imagination, the underworld journey and death-rebirth processes, and awakening and going one’s own way in life. What emerges is a deeper and richer picture of just what individuation is and how it might be skillfully navigated with the aid of astrology.
