The Rudhyar Audio Archives were created by and are curated by Nicki Michaels.
Dane Rudhyar spent most of the final 10 years of his life living in Palo Alto, CA with his wife Leyla Rael. These were extremely productive and creative years during which Rudhyar received substantial acknowledgment for his music as well as his astrological works. (Read Part 11 of Dane Rudhyar, An Illustrated Biographic Sketch.) During this period he wrote several important books and composed some long piano works. His wife Leyla made it possible for Rudhyar to continue his prolific creative output, and to maintain a rigorous lecturing schedule so that younger generations of astrologers, philosophers, musicians and composers would have an opportunity to experience Rudhyar directly.
RITA
It was in 1981, with Rudhyar’s blessing and under his mentorship that RITA, the Rudhyar Institute for Transpersonal Activity was born. This non-profit, public benefit corporation is dedicated to disseminating Rudhyar’s work and essential message.
During Rudhyar’s lifetime RITA published two booklets by Rudhyar, Beyond Personhood and Individual Selfhood and the Threefold Nature of Human Experience and sponsored the 1983 and 1985 conferences whose audios are now available on this site. With the ongoing support and guidance of Leyla Rudhyar Hill and Nicki Michaels, RITA currently makes the Rudhyar Audio Archives and the Rudhyar Archival Project possible.
